Deceived again
For a couple of months I was dreaming of getting myself a nice AGP card by ATI to have DV-to-DVD encoding sped up... And now, when I was almost ready to crack and buy the newest x1950 AGP, I learn that AVIVO is bullshit, as far as GPU-assisted video encoding is concerned. I have to give huge thanks to Tom's team of tomshardware.com for this timely article published here. You are not seeing an article are you? That's correct it's been pulled off. Let's hope it is so that corrections can be made and not to hide damning evidence that no piece of silicon on the market can possibly cost more than $300. Still, curious to know, which legal team had the article pulled off of the site NVidiot's (for some DVD playback features were lacking even on latest NVidia's chips and drivers) or AMD-ATI's (for exposing AVIVO scam).
Update: from the information in the forums, it appears the article had too many inaccuracies, and that is the reason why it was pulled. But one thing is still certian: AVIVO does not utilize GPU to assist in encoding video. Sigh...
